18 January Declared Public Holiday for Shab-e-Meraj in Kuwait & Oman

Kuwait and Oman have announced January 18 as a public holiday to mark Shab-e-Meraj, an important and sacred night in Islam. This night remembers the miraculous journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), when he traveled from Mecca to Jerusalem and then ascended to the heavens by the will of Allah.

Shab-e-Meraj falls on the 27th of Rajab in the Islamic calendar, which corresponds to 1447 Hijri this year. Muslims around the world observe this night with great respect and devotion. Many people spend the time offering special prayers, reciting the Holy Quran, giving charity, and reflecting on their faith and personal spiritual growth.

Shab-e-Meraj holds deep spiritual meaning for Muslims. It serves as a reminder of the Prophet’s extraordinary journey, the importance of prayer, and the need to strengthen one’s connection with Allah through worship, good deeds, and self-reflection.

By declaring a public holiday, Kuwait and Oman are officially honoring the religious importance of this occasion and allowing people to observe it peacefully. However, neighboring countries such as the United Arab Emirates will not observe a public holiday on this day.
