Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced plans to build five new bridges over the Trade Centre Roundabout to improve traffic flow in the area. The bridges, stretching a total of 5,000 meters, will connect Sheikh Zayed Road with five key streets: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid Street, 2nd December Street, Zabeel Palace Street, and Al Mustaqbal Street.
This project, costing about Dh696.414 million, will transform the current roundabout into a surface-level intersection. The new design is intended to double the roundabout’s capacity, cut down on delays from 12 minutes to just 90 seconds, and reduce the travel time between Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street from six minutes to one minute.
The new infrastructure will create a smoother traffic experience for drivers traveling from Jumeirah and Al Satwa along 2nd December Street toward Al Majles Street, eventually reaching Al Mustaqbal Street, which serves the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). It will also allow traffic to flow directly from Sheikh Rashid Street to Deira, and include an upper-level bridge linking Sheikh Zayed Road with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street.
With these improvements, RTA aims to create a faster, more efficient journey for residents and visitors in Dubai, especially around some of the city’s busiest areas. This project not only highlights Dubai’s commitment to developing its infrastructure but also seeks to provide smoother, safer, and more accessible roads for all travelers in the city.
