During the first week of Ramadan 2026, the United Arab Emirates witnessed a remarkable wave of generosity and community support. According to the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD), nearly 10 million iftar meals were distributed across the country, reflecting the strong spirit of giving that defines the holy month. The large-scale effort involved government bodies, charities, volunteers, and community members working together to ensure that those in need were provided with meals to break their fast.
More than 110 Ramadan tents were set up in different areas, serving around 116,000 iftar meals to fasting individuals. At the same time, approximately 345,000 worshippers attended prayers at 864 mosques nationwide, showing strong participation in spiritual activities. In addition to meal distribution and prayer gatherings, IACAD organized 156 educational lectures, reaching nearly 13,000 people. These sessions focused on religious awareness, moral values, and community unity during Ramadan.
Special initiatives were also introduced to engage different segments of society. The “Ayal Al-Freej” programme was designed for children, encouraging positive values and participation in Ramadan activities. The “Step for Life” wellness campaign promoted physical fitness while supporting charitable causes, combining health awareness with community service. Meanwhile, the “Ramadan Hero Meals” initiative provided 1,100 iftar meals to delivery riders, recognizing their hard work and long hours, especially during the fasting month.
Overall, the high level of community involvement and charitable outreach highlights the UAE’s strong culture of compassion, generosity, and unity during Ramadan.
