7.6 Million Riders Used Dubai Public Transport During Eid Al Adha Holidays

During the Eid Al Adha holidays from June 5 to June 8, 2025, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported a significant rise in the number of people using public transportation across the city. A total of 7.6 million riders used various transport services, including public transport, taxis, and shared mobility options. This marks a 14% increase compared to the same holiday period in 2024, showing steady growth in the use of Dubai’s transportation network.

The Dubai Metro, which includes both the Red and Green lines, was the most popular mode of transport, carrying 2.8 million riders during the four-day holiday. The Dubai Tram also saw strong usage, with 119,917 people traveling on it.

Public buses served 1.7 million passengers, offering convenient travel to different parts of the city. Meanwhile, marine transport options such as water buses, water taxis, and abras were used by 307,684 people, showing that water-based transport continues to play an important role in Dubai’s mobility system.

Taxis remained a reliable and widely used choice, completing around 2.2 million trips. In addition, shared mobility services—including e-scooters, e-bikes, and car-sharing—were used by 504,159 riders, highlighting a growing preference for flexible and tech-enabled transport solutions.

The figures shared by the RTA highlight Dubai’s success in managing large crowds and maintaining smooth transport operations during busy festive periods. This also reflects the city’s commitment to developing a smart, efficient, and sustainable transport system that meets the needs of both residents and visitors.
