UAE New Year Holiday Announced for Private Sector

On January 1, private sector workers in the UAE get a day off for New Year’s Day, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The public sector had already declared this day a holiday. Everyone resumes work on January 2.

In 2019, a decree by the UAE Cabinet ensured that public and private sector employees have the same number of public holidays each year.

This holiday is great news for those planning to join New Year’s Eve celebrations, particularly the famous fireworks at Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. Emaar, the developer, has announced a ticketed year-end party at Burj Park. Prices are Dh150 for kids and Dh300 for adults, offering prime views of both the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain shows.
