After Excessive Rains in Makkah, Mount Hira Turns Green

The holy city of Makkah and its surrounding mountains, particularly Mount Hira, have undergone a remarkable green makeover following heavy rain and flash floods. A video clip shared on Twitter last Thursday vividly illustrates the impact of the excessive rainfall. Arid landscapes, mainly in western Saudi Arabia, have turned green due to the combination of warm weather and rain, a change captured in satellite images from NASA. Images and videos of this surprising phenomenon have circulated widely on social media, surprising many users.

Some individuals are drawing a spiritual connection, linking the sudden greenery to a narration by Prophet Muhammad. According to the narration, he predicted that the Last Hour would not arrive until the land of Arabia transforms into meadows and rivers. However, one cautious user advises against premature conclusions, highlighting that this phenomenon is temporary and has occurred before.

The torrential downpour in the country followed King Salman’s call in November for people to perform the special rain prayer known as istisqa. This simple yet profound prayer aimed to address the country’s water scarcity concerns.
