Dubai residents might soon have a new way to travel around the city in autonomous electric pods that glide just above the ground. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) unveiled this innovative transportation system, called the Floc Duo rail system, at the Gitex Global 2024 exhibition, which started in Dubai on Monday.
A video showcased how these futuristic pods will pick up passengers right at their doorsteps, making travel more convenient and accessible. Hassan Al Mutawa, the rail maintenance director at RTA, emphasized the system’s simplicity and efficiency. He mentioned that it is both affordable and quick to build, which could lead to faster deployment in the city. The design allows the pods to be manufactured off-site and then easily assembled at their locations, reducing the need for major construction projects.
Currently, the Floc Duo system is in its prototype stage and undergoing testing. If successful, it could be implemented in Dubai in the near future, providing a sustainable and efficient transport option for residents. This project reflects Dubai’s commitment to innovation and smart city development, aiming to enhance the urban experience for its citizens.
As the city continues to explore new technologies in transportation, the Floc Duo rail system could represent a significant advancement in how people move around Dubai. The RTA’s efforts to introduce such modern solutions show a forward-thinking approach to urban mobility, making everyday travel easier and more efficient for everyone.
