His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, who is a member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an official decree to establish the Sharjah Design Centre (SDC).
According to this decree, the Sharjah Design Centre will be created as an independent organization with its own legal identity. This means it will have the authority to take legal actions necessary to fulfill its goals. The centre will also have financial and administrative independence, allowing it to manage its own operations. However, its ownership will remain with the Government of Sharjah.
The main office of the Sharjah Design Centre will be situated in the Sharjah Creative Quarter, which is located within University City. Additionally, the decree allows for the possibility of opening more branches in different parts of the emirate in the future.
