Sharjah has announced the creation of a new specialised institution called the University of the Arts Sharjah, aimed at bringing together and strengthening higher education in the field of arts. The new university is designed to provide a dedicated platform for artistic learning and to support the growth of creative education across the emirate.
The decision was made by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, who also appointed his daughter, Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, as the president of the university. Her appointment reflects the leadership’s focus on promoting arts, culture, and education as key pillars of Sharjah’s development.
The university will unite different art disciplines under one academic structure, helping to improve teaching quality and create a more organized and focused learning environment. By combining resources, expertise, and institutions, the initiative aims to nurture talent, encourage creativity, and provide students with stronger academic and practical foundations in the arts.
