Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has announced special transport arrangements for New Year’s Eve 2025–26 to manage the large number of people expected to attend celebrations across the city. To make travel easier and safer, Metro and Tram services will operate for an extended period without interruption.
Both the Red Line and Green Line of the Dubai Metro will run continuously from 5:00 am on December 31 until 11:59 pm on January 1. This means Metro services will remain available for almost two full days, allowing residents and visitors to travel at any time during the New Year celebrations. The Dubai Tram will also operate for longer hours, running from 6:00 am on December 31 until 1:00 am on January 2.
In addition to public transport changes, authorities will implement phased road closures in busy areas, especially around Downtown Dubai. Key roads, including Sheikh Zayed Road and Burj Khalifa Street, will begin closing from 4:00 pm on December 31. These closures will gradually increase and reach their full extent by 11:00 pm to manage crowds and ensure public safety during fireworks and other events.
To support these arrangements, more than 5,500 RTA staff members will be deployed across the city. Around 14,000 taxis and 1,300 buses will also be available to help people move smoothly between different locations. These measures aim to reduce traffic congestion, improve passenger safety, and ensure everyone can enjoy the New Year celebrations without major travel difficulties.
The RTA has advised the public to plan their journeys in advance and use public transport whenever possible to avoid delays and overcrowded roads during one of the busiest nights of the year.
