Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower Races to Become World Tallest Building by 2028

Saudi Arabia is speeding up work on the Jeddah Tower, which is expected to become the tallest building in the world by 2028. Construction restarted in January 2025 after being on hold for several years, and the structure has now risen beyond 80 floors.

When completed, the tower is expected to reach nearly one kilometre in height. This will make it about 173 metres taller than Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which is currently the world’s tallest building.

The Jeddah Tower will include luxury apartments, hotels, office spaces, and shopping areas. It will also feature the world’s highest observation deck, located about 652 metres above the ground, offering panoramic views of the city.

The tower is a major part of the larger Jeddah Economic City project and highlights Saudi Arabia’s plans to transform its skyline and strengthen its global presence.
