Dubai has officially approved its ambitious 20-Minute City Plan, marking a major milestone in the emirate’s journey toward smarter, more liveable urban development. Endorsed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, the initiative reflects a strong commitment to people-first city planning.
At the heart of the vision is the creation of vibrant, well-connected neighbourhoods where daily life becomes simpler and more convenient. The plan aims to ensure that residents can meet up to 80 percent of their everyday needs—such as work, education, healthcare, shopping, and recreation—within just 20 minutes by walking, cycling, or using sustainable public transport.
By reducing dependence on private vehicles, the initiative is designed to ease traffic congestion, cut travel times, and lower environmental impact. At the same time, it encourages more active lifestyles, stronger community connections, and improved physical and mental well-being.
The 20-Minute City Plan represents a forward-looking approach to urban living, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global leader in innovation, sustainability, and quality of life. It is a significant step toward building future-ready communities where convenience, health, and happiness are built into everyday life.
