Heavy Rain in UAE Causes Delivery Delays, Many Outlets Shut

Heavy rain and thunderstorms across the United Arab Emirates caused significant disruptions to delivery services on Friday, as several major platforms experienced operational challenges. Customers reported extended wait times, temporary service suspensions, and reduced availability on popular apps such as Keeta, Talabat, Noon, Careem, and Deliveroo. The adverse weather conditions, combined with waterlogged roads and safety concerns, made it difficult for riders to operate efficiently in several parts of the country.

In response, delivery platforms implemented precautionary measures by prioritizing rider safety, restricting services in heavily affected areas, and adjusting delivery windows to manage delays. Authorities had issued yellow and orange weather alerts earlier in the day, warning residents of unstable conditions. Meanwhile, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority actively monitored road networks to address water accumulation and ensure smoother traffic flow. Officials indicated that conditions were expected to gradually improve later in the day, with forecasts pointing toward clearer skies and more stable weather across the country.
