Saudi Arabia is continuing work on one of the most ambitious construction projects in modern history, the towering Jeddah Tower, which is planned to become the tallest building ever built. Once completed, the skyscraper is expected to rise to an incredible height of nearly 1,000 meters, surpassing the current world record held by Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which stands at 829.8 meters.
Located in Jeddah, the mega-project is designed as a mixed-use vertical city that will feature luxury apartments, corporate offices, a five-star hotel, restaurants, retail outlets, entertainment areas, and observation decks offering panoramic views from extraordinary heights. The tower is expected to become a major landmark for Saudi Arabia and a centerpiece of the country’s long-term urban development and tourism goals.
The project was designed by renowned architect Adrian Smith, the same architect behind the Burj Khalifa. Engineers and designers have incorporated advanced construction technologies and high-strength building materials to support the enormous structure and ensure stability against wind pressure and environmental conditions at extreme heights.
According to project details, the skyscraper will include approximately 167 floors and provide more than 2.6 million square feet of usable space. It will also feature around 59 high-speed elevators to efficiently transport residents, visitors, and workers throughout the building.
Construction on the tower faced several delays over the years, but work officially resumed in 2023 as Saudi Arabia revived multiple large-scale infrastructure and development projects under its Vision 2030 strategy. Current estimates suggest the Jeddah Tower could be completed by 2028, potentially setting a new global benchmark in engineering, architecture, and skyscraper design.
