The United Arab Emirates has unveiled “Naseej,” a nationwide initiative designed to transform the country’s textile sector into a more sustainable and circular economy. Launched under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the program reflects the UAE’s growing commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
The initiative aims to tackle the increasing challenge of textile waste by encouraging waste reduction, strengthening recycling infrastructure, and promoting responsible consumption habits among individuals and businesses. Through a comprehensive approach, Naseej seeks to extend the lifecycle of textiles and reduce the environmental impact associated with clothing production and disposal.
Developed in collaboration with leading government agencies, environmental organizations, and industry stakeholders, the program combines policy development, scientific research, and community engagement to create long-term solutions for the textile sector. It also supports innovation in recycling technologies and sustainable manufacturing practices while raising public awareness about the importance of responsible textile use.
By encouraging active participation from communities, businesses, and consumers, Naseej aims to build a culture of sustainability and contribute to the UAE’s broader environmental and economic goals. The initiative represents a significant step toward creating a greener future, reducing waste, conserving resources, and advancing the nation’s vision for sustainable growth.
