Dubai is preparing for a significant improvement in traffic flow as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) moves closer to completing the highly anticipated Dubai Harbour Bridge project. The new 1,500-metre bridge will establish a direct link between Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour, enhancing connectivity to one of the city’s most popular waterfront destinations and reducing pressure on surrounding road networks.
According to the RTA, construction of the project has reached 90% completion, with phased openings scheduled to begin later this month. The bridge is part of Dubai’s broader strategy to upgrade transport infrastructure, support urban expansion, and improve accessibility for residents, tourists, and businesses operating in the area.
Once fully operational, the new route is expected to dramatically cut travel times between Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour from approximately 12 minutes to just 3 minutes. The bridge will also have the capacity to accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, helping to ease congestion during peak hours and improve overall traffic efficiency.
Officials believe the project will play a key role in supporting Dubai Harbour’s continued growth as a major tourism, residential, and leisure hub. By providing faster and more convenient access, the bridge is expected to enhance the visitor experience, encourage economic activity, and contribute to the city’s long-term vision of creating a smarter and more sustainable transportation network.
