Dubai has reached another significant milestone in its efforts to create more inclusive public spaces, as Jumeirah Beach 2 has become the city’s first beach to receive the prestigious Gold Accessibility Certification from the World Disability Union.
The recognition highlights Dubai’s commitment to ensuring that public attractions are accessible, welcoming, and enjoyable for people of all abilities.
One of the most notable additions to the beach is the Middle East’s first dedicated sensory room at a public beach. The specially designed space provides a calm and supportive environment for visitors with sensory sensitivities, including People of Determination and individuals with autism or other sensory processing needs.
The room is intended to offer a peaceful retreat where visitors can relax and regulate their sensory experiences while enjoying a day at the beach.
The accessibility improvements extend beyond the sensory room, with enhanced facilities and infrastructure designed to make the beach more convenient and comfortable for everyone.
These upgrades reflect Dubai’s broader vision of promoting equal access to recreational spaces and ensuring that residents and tourists alike can enjoy world-class amenities without barriers.
Announced on June 29, 2026, the achievement sets a new benchmark for accessible beach destinations across the region.
By combining innovative design, inclusive facilities, and international accessibility standards, Jumeirah Beach 2 is expected to serve as a model for future developments, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global leader in creating inclusive, people-centered public spaces for visitors of all ages and abilities.
