Dubai has introduced automated technology capable of testing the quality of oils and fats in just two minutes, significantly reducing the testing time from around two hours.
Launched at the Dubai Central Laboratory, the system automatically analyses samples and can identify early signs of oxidation and other quality issues.
The new technology has increased the laboratory’s daily testing capacity by 900%, allowing it to process up to 60 samples compared with six previously.
Faster testing could help authorities monitor food safety more efficiently and identify potential risks at an earlier stage.
The system also reduces reliance on chemical consumables, supporting more environmentally friendly laboratory practices while maintaining accuracy for consumer protection.
