A UAE-developed smart wildlife feeder is using artificial intelligence to support wildlife monitoring and feeding operations.
The system can identify animals, track their numbers and monitor food consumption, while automatically adjusting feed quantities based on real-time information.
Developed by Dub Dev Technology, the “Mghzlan Smart Feeder” combines AI-powered computer vision with Internet of Things technology and solar power.
This allows wildlife feeding and monitoring activities to be managed remotely while collecting data on animal activity and feeding patterns.
The system processes more than 15 million images each year, helping monitor wildlife and identify different species.
Field monitoring has recorded animal classification confidence levels ranging between 80 and 97 percent in most cases.
The smart feeder has also dispensed more than 50 tonnes of feed in a single year and has been deployed in more than three countries.
The technology is designed to provide wildlife managers with data that can help them monitor feeding requirements and make adjustments based on observed animal activity.
