UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi was awarded the prestigious ‘Personality of the Year’ title at the 10th Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA). The award ceremony, held at the Sharjah Expo Center, marked the conclusion of the two-day International Government Communication Forum (IGCF). Another notable awardee was American judge Frank Caprio, who received the ‘Best Positive Social Impact Driver’ award.
During the event, a compelling report titled ‘100 Innovations in Government Communications 2023’ was unveiled. This report, a collaboration between SGMB and Apolitical from the United Kingdom, showcased innovative communication strategies employed by governments worldwide. A survey by Apolitical revealed that 42% of public servants in 160 countries believed their government departments lacked clear and creative communication with the public. Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), emphasized the importance of improving communication standards in line with evolving trends and global events.
The awards were presented by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC). He acknowledged the decade-long efforts of SGCA in advancing government communication practices.
