The gold is certified and provided by Tanishq, a well-known Indian jewelry brand.
Careem launched this special feature during Akshaya Tritiya, an important festival when many people believe it is lucky to buy gold. Since a large part of the UAE’s population is Indian—about one-third—this service is expected to be very popular.
The timing is also interesting because gold prices have gone up by 25% this year. Today, gold is trading at around $3,500 per ounce, as more global investors look for safe and stable ways to protect their money.
