China’s locally built C919 passenger jet is preparing for its first appearance in the Middle East at the Dubai Airshow, which will take place from November 17 to 21. The aircraft will be showcased along with the C909 business jet, giving international visitors a closer look at China’s growing aviation capabilities.
The Dubai Airshow is one of the biggest aviation events in the world, with more than 1,500 companies participating and around 148,000 people expected to attend. COMAC, the manufacturer of the C919, hopes this platform will help attract buyers from different regions, especially Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The company wants to position the C919 as a strong competitor to popular aircraft like the Airbus A320 and the Boeing 737.
The C919 is already operating within China, with 18 aircraft in commercial service. So far, it has carried more than 2 million passengers. Its appearance at the Dubai Airshow is considered an important step for COMAC as it works to introduce the C919 to international markets and strengthen its global reach.
