    Dubai International Airport becomes World’s 2nd Busiest International Airport in 2023 with Over 56 Million Seats

    In 2023, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) leads as the world’s busiest airport with over 61.2 million departing seats, according to OAG. Half of the top 10 airports are in the US, with only two European airports making the cut.

    Dubai International Airport secures the second spot with more than 56 million departing seats, followed by Tokyo Haneda Airport. China’s Guangzhou Airport is in the tenth position.

    Atlanta’s airline capacity sees a 12% YoY increase, just 3% below 2019 levels. Dubai experiences a 5% increase compared to 2019 and a significant 25% YoY increase.

    The Kuala Lumpur to Singapore Changi route claims the title of the year’s busiest global international route. Seoul Incheon to Osaka Kansai is the fourth busiest international route in 2023.

    In domestic routes, South Korea’s Jeju International to Seoul Gimpo takes the lead, highlighting Asia’s dominance in global air travel.
