Dubai Metro’s Blue Line project has completed around 12 per cent of its construction work and is progressing according to plan. Authorities have confirmed that the line is expected to open for public use in September 2029, with no delays reported so far.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) stated that more than 3,500 workers are currently involved in the project across 12 active construction sites. So far, the workforce has completed over 4.6 million work hours, reflecting steady progress on different parts of the development.
Once completed, the Blue Line will stretch over 30 kilometres and include 14 stations. It will connect with the existing Red and Green Metro Lines, making travel across the city easier and more efficient. One of the major benefits of the new line will be a direct journey to Dubai International Airport, which is expected to take around 20 minutes.
The project is part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to improve public transport, reduce road congestion, and support sustainable urban growth. Officials believe the Blue Line will help reduce traffic on major roads and improve daily commuting for residents and visitors.
In addition, the new metro line is expected to increase the value of properties in nearby areas, as improved transport links often make locations more attractive for living and investment.
