The new Dubai Metro Blue Line will feature a sleek and futuristic design, which was recently unveiled as a model at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) stand during the Global Rail conference. Unlike the existing Red and Green Lines, which have fully enclosed stations, the Blue Line stations will have a unique and modern look. The design will include smooth, curved structures with an oval-shaped arch over the tracks. The side structures will also have a contemporary aesthetic, featuring exits on both sides with symmetrical curves, giving the stations a streamlined, modern appearance.
During the conference, a video presentation by the RTA highlighted the Blue Line’s route, which will serve some of Dubai’s most densely populated areas, such as Mirdiff, International City, and Academic City. This expansion will make travel more convenient for residents in these areas, reducing congestion and improving access to public transportation.
One of the most notable features of the Blue Line will be a 1,300-meter-long viaduct, an elevated bridge that will carry the metro across Dubai Creek. This viaduct will connect key areas, including Al Jaddaf, Dubai Festival City, and Dubai Creek Harbour. The addition of the Blue Line will significantly cut down on travel times for commuters, offering a faster and more efficient route across the city.
The Blue Line is expected to span 30 kilometers and is set to be completed by 2029. It will integrate seamlessly with the existing Red and Green Lines, further enhancing Dubai’s public transportation network. This project is part of the larger Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to create a “20-minute city,” where residents can access 80% of essential services within a 20-minute commute, making life more convenient and sustainable for Dubai’s population.
