Dubai Police have started a strong action against unsafe jet ski use to keep people safe at beaches and in the sea. So far, they have given out 431 fines to people breaking the rules and have taken away 41 jet skis that did not follow safety laws.
Many people were fined for not having valid licences for their jet skis or for driving them into places where they are not allowed, such as swimming areas and hotel beaches. Some were also caught using jet skis at times when it is not allowed or not wearing proper life jackets, which are necessary for safety on the water.
Police found that some people were letting underage riders use jet skis, which is not allowed, and others were putting too many people on one watercraft, making it dangerous for everyone.
The fines for breaking these rules ranged from Dh1,000 to Dh2,000. The amount depends on how serious the offence was. Dubai Police have reminded everyone that these rules are in place to keep both riders and swimmers safe.
Authorities say they will continue to monitor the beaches and sea areas to make sure people follow the rules. They also plan to carry out more surprise checks to catch those who ignore safety instructions.
