Dubai RTA Reveals Phase 1 Rollout of Driverless RoboTaxis Across 65 Locations

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has identified 65 locations across two main zones for the first phase of driverless RoboTaxi services in the city. These autonomous taxis will be operated by Baidu’s Apollo Go and are part of Dubai’s plan to introduce smart and future-ready transport solutions.

The service will be controlled from Dubai’s first Autonomous Vehicles Operations and Control Centre, which will be located at Dubai Science Park. This center will manage all key operations, including vehicle maintenance, battery charging, software updates, and safety monitoring, to ensure smooth and secure services.

Baidu’s Apollo Go plans to gradually increase its fleet of self-driving taxis, with a target of more than 1,000 vehicles in the coming years. If all trials are completed successfully and regulatory approvals are granted, commercial RoboTaxi services are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026.
