Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority successfully transported more than 2.8 million passengers on New Year’s Eve 2026, showing a strong increase of 13 percent compared to the previous year. The rise in passenger numbers reflected the high turnout for celebrations across the city and the growing reliance on public transport during major events.
To manage the large crowds, the RTA implemented a well-planned and coordinated traffic and transport strategy. This included temporary road closures, special traffic arrangements, and close coordination with the Dubai Event Security Committee and other relevant authorities. These measures helped reduce congestion and ensured that public transport services ran smoothly throughout the night.
The RTA stated that the smooth movement of millions of people highlighted the efficiency and reliability of Dubai’s transport system. The successful operation ensured safe and hassle-free travel for residents and visitors alike, while further strengthening Dubai’s reputation as a world-class destination capable of handling large-scale international events with high standards of planning and execution.
