Ga*za Child Receives Life-Savings Transplant in Abu Dhabi

A young boy from Gaza who was suffering from a rare and dangerous immune system disorder has received a life-saving bone marrow transplant in Abu Dhabi. The operation took place at Yas Clinic in Khalifa City and was successfully performed by a medical team from the Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Centre. This important procedure came after seven months of careful planning, preparation, and intensive medical care.

The child was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called DADA-2 deficiency. This serious condition causes severe inflammation in the blood vessels, which can damage important organs like the heart, brain, or kidneys. If not treated in time, it can lead to lifelong disability or even death. Because of the seriousness of his illness, the boy had to stay in the clinic’s pediatric intensive care unit for a long period. There, he received special treatment and constant care to manage his symptoms and keep him stable before the transplant could be done.

Thanks to the efforts of the doctors, nurses, and support staff, the bone marrow transplant was successful. This gives the young boy a much better chance at a healthier future. His recovery will continue to be closely monitored, but the successful procedure is a hopeful sign—not just for him and his family, but also for other children facing similar rare diseases. This case also highlights the growing capabilities of the medical community in Abu Dhabi to handle complex and advanced treatments.
