India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered IndiGo to refund all passengers whose flights were cancelled or disrupted, and to finish clearing these pending refunds by 8 pm on December 7, 2025. The government has also instructed every airline to stop charging any rescheduling fees for people whose travel plans were affected. Officials warned that strict action will be taken if any airline fails to follow these rules.
The ministry also told IndiGo to create special teams to handle refunds and help passengers quickly. The airline must keep passengers updated, continue giving automatic refunds, and make sure these processes stay smooth until all flight operations return to normal. In addition, all airlines have been told to locate and return any lost or separated baggage within 48 hours. Extra attention must be given to senior citizens, passengers with disabilities, and those who need urgent travel assistance.
IndiGo responded by announcing that it will fully refund all bookings cancelled between December 5 and December 15, without asking passengers for any explanations. The airline also said it will not charge any cancellation or rescheduling fees during this time. Along with these steps, IndiGo issued another public apology, acknowledging the inconvenience caused to travellers.
