The Ministry of Interior in Kuwait has issued a strict warning ahead of Ramadan, reminding the public that eating or drinking openly during fasting hours is against the law.
Officials stated that anyone caught violating the rule could face fines, imprisonment for up to one month, or both penalties. The ministry also made it clear that individuals who encourage or pressure others to eat publicly during fasting hours will face the same punishment. In addition, restaurants, cafés, and other commercial establishments that fail to follow the regulations may be ordered to close for up to two months.
Authorities have announced heightened security measures throughout the holy month. Security and traffic patrols, along with awareness teams, will increase their presence in public places, including mosques, markets, and shopping malls. Special attention will be given to busy periods just before iftar and after Taraweeh prayers to ensure public order is maintained.
Special teams will also monitor and take action against begging, illegal street vending, and other violations. The ministry emphasized that these steps are aimed at preserving the sanctity of Ramadan and ensuring that laws and public morals are respected during the holy month.
