Lost car number plates have once again been spotted scattered across roads in the United Arab Emirates following recent heavy rainfall, bringing back memories of the devastating floods experienced in 2024. The intense downpours and water accumulation have caused several plates to detach from vehicles and wash away, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
In cities such as Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, residents have stepped in to assist by collecting these misplaced number plates and placing them in clearly visible locations along roadsides, pavements, and public areas to help owners retrieve them. Some plates were reportedly found near Nesto Hypermarket Muwaileh, while others surfaced in flooded residential neighborhoods where water levels had temporarily submerged vehicles.
In several instances, community members have taken their efforts a step further by sharing photos and locations of the recovered plates on social media platforms, encouraging rightful owners to come forward and claim them with proper identification.
