New 785km Rail Project to Cut Saudi Arabia to Qatar Travel to 2 Hours

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have signed an agreement to build a 785-kilometre high-speed electric railway that will directly connect Riyadh and Doha. Once completed, the train is expected to reduce travel time between the two capitals to around two hours, making cross-border travel much faster and easier.

The railway network will pass through major Saudi cities such as Dammam and Hofuf and will connect key transport hubs, including King Salman International Airport in Riyadh and Hamad International Airport in Doha. The project is planned to be completed within six years.

Officials estimate that the railway will carry more than 10 million passengers every year and create over 30,000 jobs in both countries. Authorities believe the project will boost tourism, improve trade, and strengthen regional connectivity, while also supporting long-term economic and logistical cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
