Oman Plans 60,000 New Jobs in 2026, Including 10,000 Govt Positions

Oman has announced plans to create around 60,000 job opportunities in 2026 as part of its efforts to strengthen employment and support its workforce. Out of these, about 10,000 jobs will be offered in the government sector, while nearly 33,000 positions are expected to be created in the private sector. In addition, around 17,000 opportunities will be provided through training and skill-development programs to help people prepare for the job market.

The government’s main goal is to increase employment, especially for Omani nationals. To achieve this, it is focusing on key sectors such as oil and gas, logistics, tourism, and other growing industries. Authorities are also encouraging freelance and flexible work options, giving people more ways to earn income and develop professional skills.

At the same time, labor inspections have revealed challenges in the job market. Recent checks found more than 31,000 workers violating labor laws, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement and better regulation to protect both workers and employers.

These initiatives are part of Oman’s Eleventh Five-Year Plan, which places strong emphasis on improving the labor market, expanding digital transformation, and strengthening performance management across sectors. The plan aims to create a more efficient, modern, and competitive workforce.

In the previous year, Oman successfully provided over 36,000 job opportunities and improved workforce efficiency through the use of digital systems and online platforms. Building on this progress, the government hopes that the 2026 job creation plan will further support economic growth, reduce unemployment, and prepare citizens for future career demands.
