Rajab Moon Likely to be Sighted Tonight

According to astronomers, the crescent moon that marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Rajab 1447 AH is expected to be sighted tonight.

Experts say that the chances of seeing the moon will differ from region to region. It may be visible in some parts of Africa and South America, while the possibility of sighting it in many Arab countries remains low due to weather conditions and the moon’s position.

Rajab is one of the four sacred months in Islam and holds special spiritual importance for Muslims. It also marks the beginning of the countdown to Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. If the moon sighting is confirmed, Ramadan is expected to begin in around 60 to 61 days, depending on the length of Rajab and the following month, Sha’ban.

The official start of Rajab will be announced by religious authorities after reviewing confirmed and verified moon sighting reports from different areas. Until then, communities will wait for the final decision before observing the new month.
