Saudi Arabia Suspends 2 Umrah Agencies Over Accommodation Lapse for Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has suspended two Umrah travel agencies after they failed to arrange proper accommodation for pilgrims arriving from Egypt. Authorities confirmed that strict action was taken against the companies and their local agents for not meeting service requirements. The affected pilgrims were later provided with suitable lodging to ensure their comfort and safety.

The decision comes shortly after a wider crackdown in which around 1,800 foreign Umrah agencies were suspended due to poor service standards and violations of regulations. Saudi officials said they closely monitor every stage of a pilgrim’s journey, from visa processing and airport arrival to transportation and hotel arrangements, to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Authorities also emphasized that only approved and licensed hotels can be used for Umrah bookings. Travel agencies that offer visa-only packages without arranging proper services risk suspension and legal action. The government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards to protect pilgrims and improve their overall experience.
