Sharjah has introduced new fees for releasing impounded vehicles to address the increasing number of dangerous driving incidents. These changes target offenses like reckless driving and riding motorcycles in restricted areas, aiming to promote safer roads and responsible behavior among drivers.
Under the revised rules, higher fees will apply to serious violations. For instance, those caught violating motorcycle restrictions will need to pay Dh20,000 to release their impounded vehicle. Driving without a valid license will result in an even steeper release fee of Dh30,000.
The updated fees will take effect once the legal impoundment period for a vehicle is over. This system is designed to ensure vehicles can be returned more quickly, but only after drivers have faced stricter consequences for breaking traffic rules. By implementing these measures, Sharjah hopes to discourage negligent driving and enhance public safety on its roads.
