His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an important directive to improve the welfare of imams and muezzins working across the emirate. Under this decision, all imams and muezzins will now be officially included in the Sharjah Government payroll and will receive full government employment benefits.
This move means they will be entitled to regular promotions, annual salary allowances, and comprehensive health insurance. In addition, each imam and muezzin will receive a monthly work nature allowance of Dh3,000 in recognition of the unique responsibilities and demands of their roles.
The decision reflects the leadership’s appreciation of the important religious and social services that imams and muezzins provide. They play a key role not only in leading prayers and calling people to worship, but also in guiding communities, offering moral support, and maintaining the spiritual life of society.
The new policy also ensures fair and flexible leave management. Periodic leave will be arranged in a way that does not affect their salaries or benefits. If any leave remains unused, it can be compensated with a cash payment, ensuring that no one is disadvantaged.
Overall, this step aims to ensure dignity, stability, and fair treatment for all mosque staff in Sharjah, while acknowledging their valuable contribution to the community and strengthening their sense of security and professional recognition.
