His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, has announced a new Energy Council through an official Emiri Decree. This council is being set up with a goal to plan for Sharjah’s energy and water future in a more sustainable way.
The council will focus on developing wide-ranging strategies to ensure that the emirate has a reliable, diversified mix of energy resources. By doing so, it aims to drive economic growth and reduce dependency on any single energy source, paving the way for a more resilient and adaptable economy.
Additionally, the Energy Council has been granted full legal powers and will operate with financial and administrative independence. This autonomy allows it to make essential decisions and take necessary actions to meet its goals efficiently, especially when addressing the critical areas of sustainable energy and water management.
