The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE has officially announced the return of the Midday Break for the summer of 2025. Starting from June 15 and continuing until September 15, all outdoor work under direct sunlight will be banned between 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. every day. This decision aims to protect workers from heat-related health problems during the extremely hot summer months.
This rule has now been in place for 21 years and is a reflection of the UAE’s ongoing commitment to worker safety, health, and overall well-being. It also supports the country’s broader efforts toward sustainable and humane working conditions.
Companies that do not follow this regulation could face serious consequences. In cases of repeated violations, fines can go up to 50,000 dirhams. To ensure that all businesses are following the rule, MoHRE will carry out regular field inspections and continue running awareness campaigns at various work sites across the country.
The ministry encourages all employers to take this regulation seriously, as it is designed not only to protect the rights of workers but also to promote a safe and supportive work environment for everyone.
