UAE Issues Fines Up to Dh2,000 for Unsafe Behaviour During Rains

The UAE Ministry of Interior has announced strict penalties for unsafe behavior during periods of heavy rain, urging residents to strictly follow safety guidelines issued by authorities. The ministry emphasized that adverse weather conditions, including flash floods and strong water currents, can pose serious risks to life and property, making it essential for the public to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary exposure to danger.

According to the advisory, gathering near wadis, flood channels, or dams is considered a violation and may result in a fine of Dh1,000 along with six traffic black points. Entering flooded wadis is treated as a more serious offense, carrying a penalty of Dh2,000, 23 traffic points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment. Authorities also warned that obstructing emergency and rescue teams during operations is a punishable act that could lead to additional fines and legal consequences. These measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and allowing emergency responders to carry out their duties without hindrance as unstable weather conditions persist.

Officials further advised residents to stay updated through official channels, avoid venturing into high-risk areas, and adhere to all safety instructions issued during the ongoing weather situation. The ministry stressed that cooperation from the public is crucial in minimizing risks and preventing avoidable incidents during extreme weather events.
