UAE Minister Announces School Bus Trips Now Capped at 45-60 Minutes

The UAE Minister of Education has announced the implementation of new regulations aimed at limiting the amount of time students spend traveling on school buses, following concerns raised by parents about lengthy daily commutes. The decision comes as part of broader efforts to enhance student wellbeing and ensure a more balanced school routine.

Under the updated guidelines, kindergarten students will now spend no more than 45 minutes on school buses per trip. For students in higher grades, the maximum travel time has been set at 60 minutes. The move is intended to reduce fatigue, improve concentration levels in classrooms, and support the overall physical and emotional health of students across the country.

Education officials revealed that compliance with the new transport standards has reached 98.5 percent during the current academic year. In addition, average bus journey times have reportedly been reduced by 50 percent, reflecting significant progress in restructuring routes and optimizing transportation services.

To further strengthen oversight and maintain service quality, the ministry has confirmed that school bus routes are being reviewed on a regular basis. A dedicated transport quality unit has also been established to monitor performance, address concerns, and implement improvements where necessary. Authorities say these measures are designed to create a safer, more efficient transportation system that prioritizes student comfort and wellbeing throughout the UAE.
