UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has announced a groundbreaking initiative called the Community-Managed Virtual Authority, inspired by the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed. For the first time in the country’s history, skilled Emirati citizens will take full responsibility for running a government authority. This marks a significant step toward a new era of participatory governance, where the community plays a direct role in shaping and managing public services.
Under this new model, directors and team members will be selected from different segments of society, including experts, professionals, young people, entrepreneurs, and retirees. Appointments will be made on a rotating basis, ensuring a diverse range of perspectives and ideas. These individuals will be responsible for designing practical initiatives that have a real impact on the community and support the nation’s development goals.
The project aligns with the UAE Centennial 2071 vision, which focuses on empowering people, encouraging innovation, and strengthening community engagement. By placing citizens at the center of government operations, this initiative positions the UAE as a global leader in community-driven governance. It represents a first-of-its-kind approach where the expertise, creativity, and participation of ordinary citizens are harnessed to shape government policies and programs, ultimately building a more inclusive, responsive, and forward-looking government for the future.
