UAE President Orders Release of 1,440 Prisoners for Ramadan 2026

The President of the United Arab Emirates has directed the release of 1,440 inmates ahead of Ramadan 2026 as part of a humanitarian initiative marking the holy month.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will also settle the financial penalties associated with their sentences, helping ease the burden on the released individuals and their families. The gesture is intended to offer a fresh beginning, promote forgiveness, and spread hope and compassion during Ramadan.

Such pardons are a longstanding tradition in the UAE, with leaders often announcing clemency on significant religious occasions to encourage social harmony and family reunification.

In a similar move, the ruler of Ajman approved the release of additional prisoners, further reflecting the country’s commitment to mercy, unity, and community support during the sacred month.
