UAE Targets 2 Million Companies by 2036 Amid Business-Friendly Reforms

The UAE has set an ambitious goal to host two million companies by the year 2036. This target is being supported by major reforms to the Commercial Companies Law, which now allows 100% foreign ownership. The government has also made the process of starting a business much simpler and faster, while introducing stronger rules for corporate governance to protect investors and ensure transparency.

These changes have already shown strong results. Since 2021, almost 760,000 new companies have been registered across the country. In 2025 alone, around 250,000 new businesses were established, showing high confidence from both local and international investors.

Small and medium-sized businesses owned by UAE nationals have also seen strong growth. Over the past five years, the number of Emirati-owned SMEs has increased by 63%, highlighting the positive impact of these reforms on local entrepreneurship.

Overall, the updated laws make it easier for international companies to set up, operate, and grow in the UAE. Combined with the country’s political stability, strategic global location, strong infrastructure, and investor-friendly environment, the UAE continues to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for business and investment.
