Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi has been named the world’s most beautiful airport at the prestigious Prix Versailles international architecture awards. The event was held at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, where Zayed Airport stood out among more than 400 contenders worldwide.
The airport’s Midfield Terminal, also called Terminal A, received special praise for its stunning design. Its sculptural roof, inspired by the flowing curves of desert sand dunes, was highlighted for both its beauty and energy efficiency. This innovative design not only enhances the terminal’s appearance but also reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainability.
Zayed International Airport surpassed Mexico’s Felipe Angeles International Airport, which was recognized for its cultural heritage, to claim the top spot. This global recognition showcases Abu Dhabi’s dedication to blending modern aviation with outstanding architectural design.
The award comes as the airport celebrates the first anniversary of its Midfield Terminal and aligns perfectly with the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad 53 festivities. This achievement further cements Abu Dhabi’s position as a leader in futuristic and sustainable design on the world stage.
