Dubai: Emirates Ban Pagers and Walkie-Talkies on All Flights

Dubai has placed a ban on the use of pagers and walkie-talkies for all flights. Passengers who are found carrying these devices will have them confiscated by the police. Additionally, Emirati airlines have canceled several flights to nearby countries, including Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan. Flights to Jordan may resume after October 6, while those to Iran and Iraq are expected to remain canceled until October 7. The ban on flights to Lebanon will last until at least October 15.

In a related development, the Lebanese Health Minister, Firas Abiad, reported that recent explosions involving communication devices have resulted in the tragic deaths of 37 people and left over 3,500 others injured. These incidents have raised serious safety concerns, particularly about the use of pagers. The situation has become especially alarming after incidents involving Hezbollah members and their use of communication devices. As a result, authorities are increasingly cautious about allowing such devices on flights due to the potential risks they may pose.
