The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a significant increase in toll and parking charges across the city, aiming to enhance Dubai’s transport infrastructure and improve traffic management. The revised rates, which come into effect on February 1, 2025, are expected to impact daily commuters and event-goers.
New Toll Charges to Ease Traffic Congestion
Under the new structure, Dubai’s Salik toll charges will rise to AED 6 during peak hours, which are set between 6 AM – 10 AM and 4 PM – 8 PM. Meanwhile, off-peak and weekend toll rates will remain unchanged at AED 4. This adjustment is part of a broader strategy to regulate traffic flow, reduce congestion, and encourage commuters to explore alternative transport options, including the metro and buses.
Higher Parking Fees for Events and High-Demand Areas
In addition to toll adjustments, the RTA has revised parking fees for major event venues. Event parking near Dubai World Trade Center will now cost AED 25 per hour during major events, a move aimed at better managing parking demand in high-traffic areas.
While standard public parking fees remain AED 4 per hour, the new policy introduces an increase to AED 6 per hour in high-demand areas. The RTA believes this change will encourage better parking space utilization and reduce long-term vehicle parking in key locations.
RTA’s Vision for a More Efficient Transport Network
The RTA has emphasized that these pricing changes are part of a long-term plan to enhance Dubai’s transport network. By adjusting toll and parking fees, authorities aim to ensure smoother and more efficient travel for both residents and visitors.
While the revised rates may increase daily commuting expenses, officials believe the move will promote smarter traffic management and encourage the use of public transport options. The RTA remains committed to developing innovative solutions to support Dubai’s growing population and transportation needs.
As the new rates take effect, motorists are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and explore alternative transport options to minimize costs and optimize their daily commute.
