Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has officially launched the Al Maktoum Archives, a new initiative designed to protect and preserve Dubai’s cultural and historical legacy.
The project will collect and document official government records, personal collections, photographs, and literary works related to the Al Maktoum family and the rulers of Dubai. Its purpose is to keep this valuable history safe and make it available to future generations, helping them understand how Dubai has grown and developed over time.
Under the new directive, all government and private entities in Dubai are required to register their historical records and documents within one year. This step ensures that important parts of the city’s story are not lost and remain accessible to researchers, historians, and the public.
Speaking about the launch, Sheikh Mohammed said that history acts as a mirror that reflects the past and guides the way toward a brighter future. He emphasized that the contributions of Dubai’s rulers have played a vital role in shaping the emirate’s journey from a small trading community to a major global center for business, culture, and innovation.
