Authorities in Dubai have officially announced the Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule for public sector employees, allowing government workers to prepare for the national celebration that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The announcement was made in advance to help government departments and employees plan their schedules around the upcoming festivities.
According to the Dubai Government’s Human Resources Department, public sector employees will receive a four-day holiday beginning on Thursday, March 19, and continuing through Sunday, March 22. Government offices and departments will remain closed during this period, with official work expected to resume on Monday, March 23. The break is intended to give employees sufficient time to celebrate Eid with their families and participate in traditional gatherings and community activities.
The timing of Eid Al Fitr itself will be confirmed based on the sighting of the crescent moon that marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal. In the United Arab Emirates, authorities are scheduled to observe the moon on the evening of Wednesday, March 18, following the Maghrib prayer. If the crescent moon is sighted, Eid celebrations will officially begin the following day in accordance with the lunar Islamic calendar.
Eid Al Fitr is one of the most important religious occasions in the Islamic world, celebrated at the conclusion of Ramadan, a month dedicated to fasting, prayer, reflection, and acts of charity. During the holiday, families and communities come together for prayers, festive meals, and charitable giving, while many residents also travel or attend special events organized across the country.
The announcement of the holiday schedule provides clarity for government employees and residents, as preparations for Eid festivities continue across Dubai and the wider United Arab Emirates. Authorities typically release similar announcements for both public and private sectors to ensure smooth planning and coordination during the national holiday period.
